Can the English word, "Remit" be used in the meanings of "Jurisdiction"?

What? Look them up in a dictionary. To "remit" is to pay a sum that is owed. "Jurisdiction" is a legal term denoting a geographical area within which some person or agency has the authority to determine, enforce, and pass judgment on the law as it refers to those living or acting within it. For example, Alabama cannot fine someone for a crime committed in Mississippi because it occurred outside its jurisdiction. But if you, a Mississippi resident, broke the speed limit in an Alabama county, you would have to remit your fine to the jurisdiction in which it occurred, not the one in which you live.
