Why some companies have remit address in other states?

a lot of big companies (and smaller) have their remit address in other than their own state. why?|||It's called a dropbox and they do it for several reasons, but usually it's to get your payments processed quicker and the money in their bank.|||Please note that this is primarily common in the US where companies still use checks as payment means, sending them by mail.

In Europe, the use of (and need for) remit-to addresses are virtually non-existent.
